Anthony Rendon resting Wednesday for Nationals
Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon is not starting on Wednesday versus left-hander Drew Smyly and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Rendon is getting the day off after the Nationals clinched a National League Wild Card berth on Tuesday. Asdrubal Cabrera is covering third base Wednesday while Howie Kendrick is in the three-hole.
Rendon has set career-bests across the board in 2019, with a .322 batting average, 1.013 OPS, 34 homers, 124 RBI, and 115 runs scored in 632 plate appearances (143 games).
