Derek Norris and Padres agree on $2.925 million deal
The San Diego Padres and catcher Derek Norris avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.925 million contract.
Catcher Austin Hedges' presence behind the plate and Wil Myers' expected transition to first base could cut into Norris's playing time moving forward.
Norris had his ups and downs in 2015, finishing with a .250/.305/.404 line with 14 homers and 62 RBI. His walk percentage halved to 6.2% of his plate appearances last year, but his 2.4 Wins Above Replacement were fifth among catchers in 2015.
