Kansas City Royals infielder Nicky Lopez is not starting in Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.
Lopez will sit against Oakland with Whit Merrifield moving to second base and Brett Phillips in center field.
In 356 at-bats this season, Lopez is hitting .225 with 2 home runs and 25 RBI.
