Manny Machado resting Thursday for Padres
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is not starting in Thursday afternoon's series finale versus right-hander Yu Darvish and the Chicago Cubs.
It looks like a routine breather for Machado, who has been struggling at the dish over the last week-plus, going just 4-for-32 (.125) in nine games. Ty France is covering third base and batting sixth while Greg Garcia starts at second base and leads off. Wil Myers is in the three-hole.
numberFire's models expect Machado to record 3 homers, 9 RBI, and 8 runs scored over the rest of the season.
