Joe Panik sitting Wednesday for Mets
New York Mets second baseman Joe Panik is not starting in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Anibal Sanchez and the Washington Nationals.
Panik went 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer on Tuesday in a loss to the Nationals. However, his playing time is likely going to take a hit over the final stretch, as Robinson Cano is returning to the fold on Wednesday after a month-long absence for a torn hamstring.
Panik has hit .273 with a .707 OPS in 23 games since signing with the Mets in August.
