Marcus Semien plates career-high 7 as Athletics wreck Royals
Oakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien went 2-for-6 with a home run, triple, and 7 RBI in a 19-4 demolition of the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
Semien hit a bases-clearing triple in the second inning and added a 3-run bomb in the next frame. He also picked up another RBI with a fielder's choice in the ninth. Semien joined Miguel Tejada as the only two shortstops in franchise history to drive in seven runs. The 28-year-old is now hitting .273/.358/.490 with 23 dingers, 69 RBI, 7 steals, and 94 runs scored in 603 plate appearances (131 games) this season.
