Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has been scratched from Thursday's lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Reds haven't provided a reason for the removal. Josh VanMeter is replacing Votto on first base and in the two-hole.
Votto is hitting .262/.352/.410 with 12 homers, 25 doubles, 39 RBI, 4 steals, and 60 scores in 486 plate appearances (113 games) this season.
