Fernando Tatis Jr. (back) out Wednesday, could return Friday for Padres
The San Diego Padres are hoping shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (back) will return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Tatis is being held out of Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays after making an early exit from Tuesday night's loss due to a lower back spasm. The Padres are hopeful the talented rookie will be ready to return following Thursday's club off day.
Tatis is slashing .317/.379/.590 with 22 home runs, 53 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and 61 runs scored through 372 plate appearances (84 games) to begin his big league career.
