Kansas City Royals second baseman Nicky Lopez is starting on Tuesday versus right-hander Jack Flaherty and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Lopez has been helping fill in at shortstop for Adalberto Mondesi (shoulder) in recent weeks, but he's on second base and batting ninth in Tuesday's matchup. Whit Merrifield is moving to center field in place of Billy Hamilton.
