Phillies option Maikel Franco to Triple-A
The Philadelphia Phillies optioned third baseman Maikel Franco to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Franco has been an everyday player for the Phillies this season, but his numbers have taken a sharp dip from 2018. Scott Kingery is starting on third base Sunday and will likely take over there moving forward. Brad Miller was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding roster move.
Franco hit .217/.272/.354 with 15 homers, 13 doubles, 47 RBI, and 41 runs scored in 368 plate appearances (102 games) this season.
