The St. Louis Cardinals optioned outfielder Harrison Bader to Triple-A Memphis.
What It Means:
Bader hasn't played much lately and has failed to produce at the plate all season, so this isn't a surprise. He's gone just 3-for-26 (.115) with 11 strikeouts since the All-Star break. The Cardinals are expected to call up outfielder Lane Thomas in a corresponding roster move.
Bader was batting .195/.309/.339 with 6 home runs, 19 RBI, 31 runs scored, and 6 steals in 260 plate appearances this season.
