Washington's Max Scherzer (back) considered 'very doubtful' for Tuesday's start against the Braves
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (back) is unlikely to start in Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves.
According to manager Dave Martinez, Scherzer's status for Tuesday's scheduled start is "very doubtful" after suffering a rhomboid muscle strain last week. If the Nationals' ace needs time on the Injured List, expect Erick Fedde to join the rotation.
Through 20 starts this season, Scherzer has produced a 2.41 ERA and 189 strikeouts.
