Rays' Brandon Lowe receives injection for shin

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (shin) received a pain-killing injection on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Lowe will be shut down from baseball activities for 2-3 days. It's an unfortunate development as he tries to recover from a deep contusion in his right shin. He last played on July 2 and doesn't have a timetable to return.

Lowe was batting .276/.339/.523 with 16 homers, 17 doubles, 49 RBI, 40 runs scored, and 5 steals in 307 plate appearances (76 games) before hitting the shelf.
