New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (shoulder) is expected to return on Friday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Wheeler threw a round of live batting practice on Tuesday and said it went "good," setting him up for a Friday return to the rotation. He hasn't pitched for the Mets since July 7 due to a shoulder issue.
The 29-year-old right-hander is 6-6 over 19 starts this season. He owns a 4.69 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 130 strikeouts and 34 walks in 119 innings.
