The New York Mets placed pitcher Zack Wheeler (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 12.
Wheeler was experiencing right shoulder fatigue as he prepared for his next start. He is expected to miss just one turn in the rotation as the Mets call it a precautionary move. Steven Matz will start in his place on Tuesday.
Wheeler owns a 4.69 ERA and 1.28 WHIP while striking out 130 in 119 innings pitched this season.
