Free agent Joe Nathan (elbow) eyeing May or June for return
Free agent reliever Joe Nathan (elbow) told MLB Network Radio that he's anticipating a return to the major league mound in May or June.
Nathan had Tommy John surgery in late April -- his second one -- and is working his way back. He reportedly met with eight different clubs regarding signing a deal for 2016, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Considering Nathan's injury history and age, he's 41 years-old, any deal he signs would likely be heavily incentive based.
Nathan pitched just 1/3 of an inning in 2015, and prior to that pitched 58 innings in 2014, posting a 4.14 xFIP. His 20.9 strikeout percentage was just above this year's league average of 20.4 percent, and well below his career average of 25.8 percent. There's no guarantee Nathan returns to his old form.
