Cardinals' Jordan Hicks (elbow) to undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jordan Hicks (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
Hicks was diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament and has opted to go under the knife. The closer will likely be out until the All-Star Break of 2020 as he recovers. Carlos Martinez will move into the closer's role in Hicks' absence.
Hicks finished the 2019 season with 14 saves, 31 strikeouts, and a 3.14 ERA through 28 2/3 innings.
