The Chicago White Sox activated outfielder Jon Jay from the 60-day injured list.
Jay is replacing Ryan Cordell in right field and batting sixth on Monday versus left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez and the Boston Red Sox in his season debut after being out all season with a right hip strain. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the White Sox in January. Odrisamer Despaigne has been designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move.
Jay went 21-for-63 (.333) with 2 doubles, 7 RBI, and 8 runs scored in 16 rehab games between Triple-A Charlotte and Double-A Birmingham.
