Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez is not starting in Wednesday afternoon's series finale versus right-hander Tyler Mahle and the Cincinnati Reds.
Alvarez recorded the first double of his big league career while making a start in left field in Tuesday's loss to the Reds. Michael Brantley, Jake Marisnick, and Josh Reddick are manning the outfield Wednesday for the Astros, who are playing without a DH at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Alvarez has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with 4 home runs, 9 RBI, and 8 runs scored so far in the majors.
