Blue Jays put Ken Giles (elbow) on 10-day injured list
The Toronto Blue Jays placed reliever Ken Giles on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with right elbow inflammation.
This explains why Giles was left off Wednesday's lineup card. The 28-year-old right-hander told reporters that he had some recovery issues after throwing in back-to-back games, but he expects to return when first eligible. Joe Biagini figures to see ninth-inning work while Giles is out. The Blue Jays called up Jordan Romano from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding roster move.
Giles has converted 11 of 12 saves this season while posting a 1.08 ERA with 42 punchouts over 25 innings (25 appearances).
