The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Domingo German on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 8, with a left hip flexor strain.
German attributed the injury to his recent struggles over the past three games, a span in which his ERA has jumped from 2.60 to 3.86. He's scheduled for an MRI on Monday that should provide a sense of how much time the 26-year-old right-hander will miss. The Yankees recalled left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding roster move.
German is 9-2 over 12 starts this season. He's tallied 77 strikeouts and handed out 19 walks.
