Cubs add Carlos Gonzalez to roster
The Chicago Cubs purchased the contract of outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from Triple-A Iowa.
Gonzalez will make his Cubs debut in right field and hit fifth in Monday's makeup game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 33-year-old veteran went 2-for-8 with a home run for Iowa after signing a minor league contract last Thursday. Jim Adduci was designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move. Kris Bryant is shifting to the hot corner Monday and David Bote is out of the lineup.
CarGo hit just .210/.282/.276 over 117 plate appearances while posting a career-worst 28.2 strikeout percentage with the Cleveland Indians before being designated for assignment on May 22.
