New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia (knee) is on track to return Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, manager Aaron Boone said.
Sabathia successfully made it through a bullpen session on Thursday, setting him up for a Sunday start. The 38-year-old left-hander has only made it past the fifth inning twice in eight starts this season.
Sabathia posted a 3.48 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 34 strikeouts and 17 walks across 41 1/3 innings before landing on the IL.
