New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is officially out for the season after undergoing ankle surgery on Thursday afternoon.
Cespedes fractured his right ankle after reportedly falling off a non-horse at his home ranch in Florida. It's the second straight year he's undergone a season-ending leg injury, though in 2019, he never stepped foot on a baseball field.
In 157 plate appearances last season, Cespedes had nine home runs, 29 RBI, a .262 batting average and an .821 OPS.
