Brewers send Jason Rogers to Pirates in three-player swap

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired first baseman Jason Rogers from the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Keon Broxton and pitcher Trey Supak.

What It Means:

The deal is fascinating from a few different perspectives. First, it's an intradivision deal, with the Brewers dealing Rogers to a division rival. Second, it's the second time the Brewers have traded a first baseman this winter, leaving them conspicuously thin at the position. It's a good deal for Rogers, though, as he'll have a chance to start on a team with postseason aspirations.

Rogers batted .296/.367/.441 with four homers and 16 RBI in 169 plate appearances this past season. In 203 1/3 innings at first base, he accrued a 0.9 Ultimate Zone Rating, slightly above average.
