Khris Davis (hip) going on Athletics' injured list
Oakland Athletics designated hitter Khris Davis will be placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a nagging left hip contusion.
Davis was lifted from Tuesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians due to "lingering effects" from the injury he suffered on May 5. His batting average has actually improved from .229 to .248 in that span, but the 31-year-old hasn't healed as quickly as anticipated. The Athletics haven't announced a corresponding roster move, but Mark Canha is filling in at DH in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Jefry Rodriguez and the Indians.
Davis is batting .248/.318/.497 with 12 homers and 29 RBI through 173 plate appearances.
