Mets' Jed Lowrie suffers hamstring strain

New York Mets second baseman Jed Lowrie has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.

What It Means:

Lowrie was expected to make his Mets debut this week, but it now sounds like he'll remain out for the rest of May. The 35-year-old has been on the all season due to a knee injury. He signed a 2-year, $20 million free agent contract with New York at the beginning of the year.

Lowrie slashed .267/.353/.448 with 23 homers and 99 RBI across 680 plate appearances for the Oakland Athletics last season.
