Cory Luebke

Blue Jays interested in Cory Luebke

Free agent pitcher Cory Luebke is drawing some interest from the Toronto Blue Jays, according to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.

What It Means:

Luebke is an interesting case as he turns 31 in March and last pitched in the majors in 2012 because of two Tommy John surgeries. The Jays interest is a low-risk-high-reward situation as Luebke offers some upside, and it likely won't cost Toronto much to sign him.

Luebke has pitched just 188 1/3 innings in the majors for his career, but has some solid numbers. His xFIP is 3.21 and his strikeouts per nine innings is 9.32, both of which would have been top-15 totals among qualified starters this season. He also has the ability to start or pitch in relief, and this type of versatility is always enticing.
