Tigers place Jordy Mercer (quad) on injured list
The Detroit Tigers placed shortstop Jordy Mercer on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right quad strain.
What It Means:
Mercer also sat out the second half of April with a similar issue. Gordon Beckham and Ronny Rodriguez will likely share time at shortstop while Mercer is out.
Mercer is batting .206/.275/.317 with a home run, 4 doubles, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored in just 69 plate appearances this season.
