New York Yankees first baseman Mike Ford is making his major league debut in Thursday's series opener versus right-hander Homer Bailey and the Kansas City Royals.
Ford was called up in correlation with Greg Bird landing on the injured list with a plantar fascia tear. He's in the designated hitter spot and batting seventh while Frazier starts in left field and Mike Tauchman moves to bench. Ford put together a .410/.467/.897 batting line and 5 home runs, 14 RBI, and 10 runs scored over 10 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
