Mike Soroka making season debut for Braves Thursday afternoon
Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Soroka is making his season debut in Thursday afternoon's series finale versus right-hander Luke Weaver and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
What It Means:
Soroka was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett Thursday morning. The 21-year-old right-hander spun a 3.51 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and 7 walks across his first 25 2/3 major league innings (five starts) last season. It's not clear if he will stick in the rotation after Thursday. Atlanta optioned right-hander Shane Carle to Gwinnett in a corresponding roster move.
