Mets limiting Edwin Diaz to 3 outs this season
New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz won't be used for more than three outs this season, manager Mickey Callaway said.
Diaz notched his 6th save of the season in Monday's 7-6 11-inning victory over the Philadelphia Phillies with three consecutive strikeouts on 11 total pitches. However, that came after Callaway first turned to Robert Gsellman, who forced in the tying run with a four-pitch walk. Diaz is the Mets' best bullpen option, but it appears his workload will be heavily managed throughout the year.
Diaz owns a 1.35 ERA with 13 strikeouts through 6 2/3 innings. He's averaging 7.0 FanDuel points through eight appearances.
