Boston's Dustin Pedroia (knee) targeting April 9 debut

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (left knee) is tentatively scheduled to make his season debut in the club's April 9 home opener versus the Toronto Blue Jays.

What It Means:

The Red Sox have been easing Pedroia along, but he's scheduled to play in his first back-to-back set March 28-29. Barring a setback, Pedroia will then be assigned to a minor league affiliate on April 4 and then debut on April 9. Eduardo Nunez and Brock Holt are expected to cover second base for Boston in the meantime.

numberFire's models currently expect Pedroia to bat .267 with 7 home runs, 40 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 1 steal across 400 plate appearances in 2019.
