Brewers' Corey Knebel has UCL problem, receiving second opinion
Milwaukee Brewers reliever Corey Knebel is dealing with a UCL issue and will receive a second opinion.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell says it's not a complete tear and that Knebel has pitched with it for a while, so the 27-year-old right-hander might be able to avoid Tommy John surgery. The second opinion will provide more clarity, but it would make sense if Milwaukee adds free agent Craig Kimbrel.
Prior to this announcement, numberFire's models expected Knebel to pick up 25 saves while recording a 2.99 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 99 strikeouts and 29 walks across 63 1/3 innings this season.
