Tigers' Michael Fulmer likely headed for Tommy John surgery
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer (elbow) has been recommended for Tommy John surgery.
Fulmer is seeking a third opinion, but it appears he will be sidelined for all of 2019. The 26-year-old right-hander was shut down recently to work on his mechanics, but there hadn't been any mention of an arm injury.
Fulmer's ERA has gone up each year since he entered the majors, from 3.06 as a rookie, to 3.83 in 2017, before ballooning to 4.69 last season.
