Royals sign Martin Maldonado to a one-year, $2.5 million deal
Catcher Martin Maldonado has agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Kansas City Royals.
What It Means:
The Royals had a need at catcher after Salvador Perez underwent Tommy John surgery, and Maldonado could get the bulk of the time behind the plate for them this season.
Maldonado slashed .225/.276/.351 with 9 home runs in 404 plate appearances split between the Astros and Angels.
