Angels' Shohei Ohtani (elbow) nearing throwing program
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is close to beginning a throwing program.
"It’s on the sooner side," new Angels manager Brad Ausmus told reporters Thursday. Ohtani will not pitch in a major league game this season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last October. The 24-year-old Japanese sensation slashed .285/.361/.564 with 22 home runs, 61 RBI, 59 runs scored, and 10 steals in 367 plate appearances as a rookie.
numberFire's models expect Ohtani to bat .274 with 25 taters, 74 RBI, 67 runs scored, and 10 steals across 465 plate appearances in 2019.
