Athletics non-tender first baseman Ike Davis
First baseman Ike Davis was non-tendered by the Oakland Athletics.
This was an expected move as the Athletics acquired first baseman Yonder Alonso from the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Davis earned $3.8 million in 2015 while struggling mightily at the plate.
It's a small sample size since Davis played in just 74 games this season, but he posted a -0.33 nERD, which ranks 277th. His line for the year was .229/.301/.350 with just three home runs. His .288 wOBA would have ranked 13th worst in baseball if he had enough plate appearances to qualify. Davis has been unable to repeat the success he had during the 2012 season, when he hit 32 home runs.
