Mariners' Jean Segura traded to Phillies in five-player deal
The Seattle Mariners have traded infielder Jean Segura, along with pitchers James Pazos and Juan Nicasio to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for infielders Carlos Santana and J.P. Crawford.
The Mariners continue their rebuilding process as they completed their four trade in the last month. Segura is expected to take over at shortstop for the Phillies unless they are successful in their bid for Manny Machado, which would likely move Segura to second base.
Segura batted .304 with 10 homers, 20 steals, and 91 runs scored in 632 plate appearances last season.
