Christian Vazquez homers as Red Sox eliminate Yankees in Game 4
Boston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez blasted a solo rocket in a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday in Game 4 of the American League Division Series.
Vazquez drew a walk off CC Sabathia in his first plate appearance and then roped one deep to lead off the fourth inning with what proved to be the winning run. The 28-year-old backstop has hit just 10 home runs over 999 career plate appearances in the regular season. The Red Sox will now advance to the American League Championship Series for a best-of-seven set against the defending-champion Houston Astros.
Vazquez went 3-for-9 with 1 home run, 2 RBI, 1 walk drawn, and 2 runs scored in the ALDS.
