4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/8/16

The St. Louis Cardinals go head-to-head with the Cincinnati Reds' bullpen, and that has been a delightful recipe for runs this season.

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. With the split slates, we'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

St. Louis Cardinals

As they showed yet again last night, we could stack against the Cincinnati Reds even if their starter were a boss. Their bullpen is a complete abomination, and our expectations for the opposing offense should only go up once the starter is no longer in the game. But when that starter is a guy like Alfredo Simon, it'll be hard to contain the enthusiasm.

Simon was looking as if he were improving earlier this year because he was generating swings and misses with decent regularity. That has been trending down recently, though, with his swinging-strike rate now sitting at 8.0%, lower than it was last year. This gives us abundant faith in his 4.97 SIERA, a frightening number against the second-ranked offense in terms of wRC+ against righties.

My favorite first baseman for this slate is going to be a member of the Cardinals; it's just hard to tell whom it will be. Matt Adams has been getting the majority of the starts there recently, and his 38.7% hard-hit rate and 42.5% fly-ball rate against righties are both superbly luscious at Great American Ballpark. If we get Brandon Moss in the lineup, though, that could be even better as he has a higher hard-hit rate and fly-ball rate than Adams when facing righties. Either would be in play tonight, so check out the lineup and stack around them.
