4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 5/16/16

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Boston Red Sox

As we discussed last week here, something is very, very wrong with the Kansas City Royals' Yordano Ventura. He has walked more batters than he has struck out, and he has the worst SIERA among all qualified pitchers. All of that is going up against the ball-bashing Boston Red Sox tonight in Kansas City. Hold onto your butts.

One of Ventura's main dips has been in the percentage of times batters chase balls out of the zone. His chase rate is down to 21.8% this year from 29.3% last year, and that's not something the Red Sox do too regularly. Their chase rate is 27.7%, which is below average and only the 18th-highest total in the league. It just really seems that an end to Ventura's struggles aren't necessarily imminent.

We should be favoring lefties in this matchup as Ventura has walked almost one-fifth of of the left-handed batters he has faced. This is tough given that the top three guys in the Red Sox's lineup are all righties, but any movement in where Travis Shaw or Jackie Bradley bat could make them quality values. This is a stack I'd wait to make until the lineups come out, but either way, try to get exposure to this high-flying offense.
