3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 9/7/22

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Manny Machado To Hit a Home Run (+340)

With a solid 4.64 implied run total, the San Diego Padres are in a spot to score some runs tonight.

A soft matchup against Tommy Henry should put the Padres at the top of the list for plenty of people tonight. Henry is a rookie pitcher with a limited sample size but comes in allowing a .408 SLG, .332 wOBA, 5.26 xFIP, 1.03 HR/9, 41.8% fly-ball rate, and 40.5% hard-contact rate versus right-handed hitters.

He's a young pitcher, and yes, it's a small sample size, but your eyes should light up when you see stats like those. It's like the Free Parking square in Monopoly; you're excited to land there and take what it has to offer.

That's what leads us to Manny Machado, who comes in rocking a 127 wRC+, .347 wOBA, .231 ISO, 42.7% fly-ball rate, and 39.1% hard-contact rate versus left-handed pitchers.

It's a favorable matchup, and it won't be a surprise to see Slam Diego in full effect tonight, so I'm also adding Machado To Record an RBI (+110).

Alek Manoah Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+104)

When it comes to a strikeout prop tonight, we turn to Alek Manoah.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the midst of a very tight American League Wild Card race and on the road to take on the Baltimore Orioles. Manoah will be on the bump for the Jays, and he comes in with a 23.3% strikeout rate and an 11.3% swinging-strike rate this season.

While those are relatively modest numbers overall, Manoah has pushed towards a higher ceiling in some of his recent starts. Over his last four starts, Manoah has posted a 26.9%, 32.0%, and 29.6% strikeout rate in three of those outings. That has led to Manoah racking up six strikeouts or more in four straight starts, including two starts at eight strikeouts.

That could be on display tonight since the Orioles come in with a 22.3% strikeout rate versus right-handed pitchers, which is 15th in the league. While it's a league-average matchup for Manoah, he'll have plenty of time to rack up the strikeouts; he's been over 100 pitches in three of his last four starts.

Alex Bregman To Record an RBI (+130)

I'm going back to the well with Alex Bregman tonight.

I was on Bregman last night for an RBI, and he didn't get it done. It's a new day and he has another great matchup to cash in on this RBI prop. Cole Ragans will be on the mound for the Texas Rangers, and he's pitcher we can absolutely look to target for player props.

Ragans is another pitcher with a small sample size. He comes in allowing a .541 SLG, .389 wOBA, 6.75 xFIP, 2.35 HR/9, and 50.0% fly-ball rate versus right-handed hitters. Ragans likely won't go too deep into the game, and that shouldn't be an issue for Bregman since the Rangers' bullpen is in the bottom half of the league in most stats versus right-handed hitters.

Bregman comes in with a 109 wRC+, .319 wOBA, low 11.6% strikeout rate, 47.1% fly-ball rate, and 34.9% hard-contact rate versus left-handed pitchers.

It's a great matchup and Bregman has gone three games without an RBI. He's due for one.
