3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on 4/6/21

Day two of the week provides some solid high-salaried options. Who should we consider?

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce well, too, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Yu Darvish, SP, San Diego Padres ($10,200)

Taking his second turn of the season as a member of the San Diego Padres, Yu Darvish looks to build off of a solid first start as a high-salaried ace.

His opponent, San Francisco Giants, at first blush, had a bit of an offensive renaissance a season ago. While they didn't walk much at the dish (8.8%), they struck out a moderate amount (22.1%) with a strong .331 team wOBA.

Darvish was brilliant a season ago, logging a 2.91 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 76 innings pitched. Expect brilliance again.

Francisco Lindor, SS, New York Mets ($3,800)

Finally returning to play yesterday, the New York Mets kicked off the 2021 season, and it didn't exactly go as they planned with a first game loss.

One thing that could help is Chase Anderson manning the bump for the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, as home runs have long been an issue. Last season, Anderson was torched for 2.94 home runs per nine innings (HR/9), which follows up a 2019 campaign with a 1.74 HR/9 mark. That makes a lot of sense when you consider Anderson's 7.22 ERA.

Expect new shortstop Francisco Lindor to be ready to smash tonight.

C.J. Cron, 1B, Colorado Rockies ($4,000)

Game in Denver? Check. Shoddy pitcher on the mound? Check. It's time to fire up your Colorado Rockies and especially slugging first baseman C.J. Cron.

After a strong 2019 season, Arizona Diamondbacks righty Luke Weaver really struggled a year ago, logging a 6.58 ERA while amassing 42 innings pitched.

While Cron's 2020 season ended prematurely, he looked solid this spring. Pairing that with a poor pitcher and that thin Denver air makes Cron a great pick.
