3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 8/27/19
While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.
Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.
Mike Soroka, P, Atlanta Braves
FanDuel Price: $8,800
In a slate loaded with good pitching options, Mike Soroka is not necessarily someone you should avoid because of the matchup but rather due to the better alternatives. Soroka has been the ace of the Atlanta Braves' staff with a 3.21 FIP but his upside is limited by his pitch to contact style as he only strikes out 19.7% of batters. Additionally, while the Blue Jays had offensive struggles earlier in the season, they rank 9th in the league this month with a 108 wRC+.
Saving salary with Caleb Smith ($8,400) is a better alternative for tonight's slate.
Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $4,000
Kris Bryant has enjoyed another solid season at the hot corner for the Chicago Cubs but he is best left on the bench for tonight's slate. Bryant will be going up against Marcus Stroman who has held righties to a .253 wOBA and only four home runs in 74.2 innings. Bryant experiences a drop in wOBA greater than 100 points against righties this year while striking out 4% more often than against lefties.
Max Kepler, OF, Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $3,700
Max Kepler finds himself in an interesting matchup against Chicago White Sox ace Lucas Giolito. Giolito, a righty, has extreme reverse splits as lefties have a minuscule .228 wOBA against him. Additionally, Kepler does not take advantage of matchups against righties as he has even splits.
