FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 8/7/19
With most of Wednesday's games taking place this afternoon, tonight's five-game main slate has a quirky start time of 6:40pm ET, so be sure to have your lineups in a little earlier than usual! It probably won't come as a surprise that the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees once again check in with the night's highest implied totals, and their starting pitchers will be of interest as well. However, note that there may be some inclement weather in Boston and Baltimore that could require monitoring this evening.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
James Paxton ($9,600 on FanDuel): Although he isn't having his strongest campaign, there's little question that James Paxton is the most-talented hurler on this abridged slate, leading the way in both strikeout rate (29.5%) and SIERA (3.95). He shouldn't have much trouble taking care of the Orioles, whose active roster comes in with a 94 wRC+ and 23.6% strikeout rate versus southpaws. Home runs have been an issue for Paxton this season -- he's allowing a 39.2% hard-hit rate and 41.0% fly-ball rate -- so it wouldn't be surprising to see him give up a couple of solo shots, but he should more than make up for that in punchouts.
