As we've seen for much of the week, high summer temperatures and mediocre starting pitching bring about a healthy batch of high implied totals across Friday's 13-game slate. That leaves our selection of viable arms a bit shallow, though some familiar names sit atop the list.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Jacob deGrom ($10,700 on FanDuel): Only four hurlers exceed even $9k tonight, and of that group, Jacob deGrom is arguably the most likely to find success tonight. As we'll get to in a second, Justin Verlander is pretty much always worth a look, but he draws a brutal matchup against the Angels. Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw ($10,200) and Zack Greinke ($9,400) draw much better matchups in home starts against the Padres and Rockies, respectively, but they're less likely to capitalize off their sub-23% strikeout rates. That leaves us with deGrom, who gets a fairly neutral opponent in the Phillies but hardly one to fear at pitcher-friendly Citi Field. Philadelphia's active roster owns a 99 wRC+ and 22.7% strikeout rate versus right-handers, and they check in with a modest 3.70 implied total. As for deGrom, he's boasting an excellent 3.36 SIERA, 30.3% strikeout rate, and 5.2% walk rate -- numbers that only Verlander can compete with on Friday's slate.
