3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/27/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for June 27.

Walker Buehler, Los Angeles Dodgers (SP)

at Colorado Rockies
FanDuel Price: $9,600

If you look at his recent run of form, Walker Buehler seems like an auto play, especially on a shortened main slate.

Over his last four starts, dude has been ballin'. Buehler has averaged 61 FanDuel points over those starts, posting an absurd 0.87 ERA and 0.45 WHIP with 42 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched.

However, none of those past four starts were in Denver, where Buehler starts tonight. While Buehler ranks second on the main slate in terms of strikeout rate (28.4%), he also has the third-highest implied team total of the night at 4.87 runs.

Blackmon usually sees significant ownership while at home against a right-handed pitcher, which should be amplified tonight on a four-games slate, another reason to fade him tonight. Given that the forecast is calling for hot, humid weather in Denver, Buehler could be a fade tonight.

Charlie Blackmon, Colorado Rockies (OF)

vs Los Angeles Dodgers
FanDuel Price: $4,600

Lest we forget, Charlie Blackmon is a pretty damn good hitter inside of Coors Field. The third-most expensive player on today's main slate, Blackmon owns a silly 1.487 OPS and .983 slugging percentage in home games this year. Those are not typos.

His NL West matchup tonight, though, could lead him to being faded tonight. Walker Buehler has absolutely eviscerated left-handed batters so far this season, limiting them to a .170 batting average, .219 wOBA, and 33.1% fly-ball rate.

There could be a decent breeze blowing in tonight, so while it may be hot and humid, Blackmon could shape up as one to avoid.

Juan Soto, Washington Nationals (OF)

at Miami Marlins
FanDuel Price: $4,200

While 2019 has been a bit of a bumpy road for Juan Soto, he's been hot at the dish as of late. Since June 15th, he's bombed away at the dish, racking up 17.46 FanDuel points per game with a 1.276 OPS.

Where he may face some trouble, however, is his matchup with Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins. While the right-hander doesn't whiff a ton of batters, as his strikeout rate is the lowest on the main slate, he has been brilliant against left-handed batters, holding them to a .302 wOBA, 31.4% fly-ball rate, and 31.5% hard-hit rate.

Pair that with Marlins Park, which ranks last in park factor and second-worst in home run factor, and it could be a tough night for Soto.
