3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/11/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for June 11.

Trevor Bauer, Cleveland Indians (SP)

vs Cincinnati Reds
FanDuel Price: $10,800

Trevor Bauer of the Cleveland Indians has been pretty good from a fantasy perspective -- dating back to April 25th (nine starts), he's gone six or more innings seven times, and he's whiffed 61 hitters over those 59 innings. His ability to work deep into games, earning a quality start and a potential win with strikeout juiciness, is almost unmatched.

What's perturbing about his recent run of form is the massive amount of long balls he is allowing -- in that same time span, he's given up 11 gopher balls, and lefties are terrorizing him for 1.96 home runs per nine (HR/9) innings pitched this season. That's not good, Bob.

The home run issue is compounded by Bauer's 10.3% walk rate, his second-highest mark in a full season. While his current 4.12 implied allowed run total is one of the lowest on the slate, Bauer's struggles with the long ball make him one to avoid.

Yoan Moncada, Chicago White Sox (3B)

vs Washington Nationals
FanDuel Price: $3,900

Yoan Moncada of the Chicago White Sox is one of the fun breakouts of the 2019 season -- he's ripped his way to 12 home runs and five steals, making him a pretty valuable fantasy asset.

He's got his work cut out for him tonight, though, against Patrick Corbin of the Washington Nationals. While the switch-hitting third baseman can still use the platoon advantage to his favor, Moncada becomes an instant stay away thanks to his absurdly poor splits as a righty. He owns a putrid .082 isolated power (ISO) mark, .598 OPS, and 26.7% hard-hit rate from this side of the plate.

Corbin is nasty enough on his own accord, and while Moncada may seem tempting, he's been poor as a right-handed batter this season. Throw in him leaving early with back tightness yesterday, and he's an easy fade.

Pete Alonso, New York Mets (1B)

at New York Yankees
FanDuel Price: $3,900

As part of baseball's refreshing trend to promote their best players right away, Pete Alonso of the New York Mets got the call-up right away and has been smacking homers at a furious pace. So far in 2019, Alonso has 20 dingers to his name and a .339 ISO. That's some serious power.

Now roll in tonight's game at Yankee Stadium, which ranks as the best park in terms of home run factor over the last three seasons, and we need to auto-roster Alonso tonight, right?

Not so fast, my friends.

Tonight's game will be no easy task as part of a split doubleheader against the New York Yankees and James Paxton, who's wiped out righties this year for a .270 wOBA and 32.0% strikeout rate.

Heavy underdogs with a fairly low implied team total, Alonso may not be primed for a breakout effort.
