3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/6/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for June 6.

Trevor Bauer, Cleveland Indians (SP)

vs Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $10,400

What in the heck is going on with Trevor Bauer?

There's no slicing and dicing it any other way -- over his last seven starts, Bauer has stunk up the joint for the Cleveland Indians. While he's getting plenty of whiffs, a DFS staple for starting pitching, he's logged a 5.44 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over those 43 innings.

That's led to only one win and three quality starts over that timeframe, and his 18 walks over that span are a big issue.

Tonight's contest against the league's best offense certainly won't do him any favors, and the Minnesota Twins' 20.1% strikeout rate (fourth-lowest) won't help Bauer's cause, either. All in all, he's very tough to trust in cash, though his swing-and-miss upside keeps him in play for GPPs.

Hunter Renfroe, San Diego Padres (OF)

vs Washington Nationals
FanDuel Price: $3,100

Hunter Renfroe has shown a propensity in his career to do one thing very well -- absolutely mash left-handed pitching. He gets a matchup tonight versus Patrick Corbin. Over the last two seasons, Renfroe has posted an OPS of .810 (2018) and 1.076 (2017) in this split.

But Corbin ain't no ordinary southpaw. This season, spanning 233 plate appearances against right-handed batters, Corbin has limited them to a .290 wOBA and 33.3% fly-ball rate. A season ago, he held right-handed hitters to a .254 wOBA with a 30.0% strikeout rate and 5.3% walk rate in the split.

Renfroe is usually a guy we can turn to for cheap pop when the San Diego Padres are seeing a lefty, but tonight isn't a good spot for him.

Francisco Lindor, Cleveland Indians (SS)

vs Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $3,900

It was a delayed start to his 2019 campaign, but since getting healthy, Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians has come out blazin' with 11 home runs this season.

He may run into some trouble against Jose Berrios tonight, however. Berrios has been solid against lefties this year, limiting them to a .305 wOBA and 23.0% strikeout rate in 148 plate appearances.

It ain't a small sample size blip, either. In 2018, spanning a much heftier 415 plate appearances, Berrios dominated left-handed bats for a .299 wOBA and 26.5% strikeout rate.

Lindor usually provides plenty of upside at the top of the Indians' lineup, but he may be fall a bit short tonight.
